Frequently asked questions

How Tripski plans trips, tracks activity, splits costs, and keeps your travel memories — before you download.

What is Tripski?

Tripski is a trip planner and travel diary for iPhone, iPad, and Android. In one app you can plan a trip, build a day-by-day itinerary, log places you visit, track steps and distance, split expenses with travel companions, capture photo and video memories, and share trips with a link.

How does trip planning work?

Open the trip planner, enter where you are going and your dates, and adjust preferences (pace, interests, budget style, and more — saved from Settings → Travel Preferences). Tripski generates a day-by-day plan you can review, edit, and add to your trip timeline. Planner items can stay as notes or be turned into real experiences and expenses when you are on the ground.

How does Tripski suggest places while I travel?

In Settings → Automated Detection you can turn on passive location tracking. With that enabled, Tripski can detect when you linger somewhere and suggest adding it as an experience on your active trip. Trip Detection watches when you leave home (using your Home Location) and can suggest starting a new trip. Experience Tracking suggests individual stops. Every suggestion stays pending until you confirm or dismiss it — nothing is added silently. Pending suggestions expire after a few days if you do not act on them.

How does activity and health tracking work?

Tripski reads step count, walking distance, calories, and floors climbed from Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android) when you grant permission. Stats roll up per day inside each trip so you can see how active you were on the trail, in the city, or on travel days. On a trip you can compare your activity with other travelers who share health on that trip. When you share a trip publicly or with followers, you choose whether to show distance walked and an activity score — both are optional toggles in trip privacy settings.

What are memories?

Memories are photos, videos, or text posts attached to a trip or a specific experience. You can set each memory to public, followers-only, or private. Memories support captions, location, and tagging other travelers. Other users can like and save public memories in the feed. Free accounts can upload videos up to 8 seconds; longer videos require Premium.

Can I import photos from my camera roll?

Yes. Batch import lets you pull photos from your library, cluster them by time and place, and attach them to the right trip or experience. Free accounts can import up to 10 photos per trip in one batch; Premium removes that cap. Each experience supports up to 9 photos regardless of plan.

How do trip expenses and splitting work?

On any trip, add a payment (who paid, amount, currency, and what it was for) and assign how the cost is split across travelers on that trip. Tripski supports multiple currencies and converts amounts using exchange rates so everyone sees familiar numbers. The Settle Up screen shows who owes whom — either a simplified “suggested” settlement with fewer transfers, or a detailed view of every balance. Record settlements when you pay each other back; past settlements stay in your trip history.

Can I invite friends on a trip?

Yes. Add travelers to a trip so they appear on experiences, expenses, and activity views. You can also create Travel Buddy groups in Settings for people you travel with often. Trip admins control who is on the trip and how expenses are split.

How does sharing a trip work?

Each trip has visibility: Public (anyone with the link), Followers (people who follow you on Tripski), or Private (only you). For non-private trips you control what appears on the shared link: distance walked, activity score, average daily spend, and which memories (all, none, or a subset). Recipients without the app see a web preview; the full trip opens in the app after install.

What is Explore and the bucket list?

Explore is Tripski’s catalog of places and traveler reviews. Search by name or location, open a place for details and ratings, and save spots to your bucket list for a future trip. When you visit somewhere, you can leave a star rating and notes that feed back into the community catalog.

Does Tripski support walking tours?

Yes. Tripski offers guided walking tours in select destinations — step-by-step routes with stops you follow in the app. Availability depends on region; open Walking Tours from the app menu to see what is near you.

Can I forward booking emails into Tripski?

Yes. In Settings → Email Automation you get a personal forwarding address. Forward confirmation emails (flights, hotels, etc.) from the inbox you register, and Tripski can parse them into trip or experience details. Your unique address is shown in the app — do not share it publicly.

Is Tripski free? What does Premium include?

Core features — trips, planner, memories, expenses, sharing, and detection — are free with limits. Free accounts get 500 MB of cloud storage, a one-time bundle of planning credits at signup, up to 10 photos per trip in batch import, and 8-second video memories. Premium (monthly or annual) adds more cloud storage (25 GB), a monthly refresh of planning credits, longer videos, unlimited batch photo imports, and private-trip sharing options. Optional credit packs are available in-app. Billing is through the App Store or Google Play.

Which platforms is Tripski on?

Tripski runs on iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android. Download from the App Store or Google Play at tripski.app/download.

Does Tripski track my location in the background?

Only if you turn it on. Passive location tracking is a separate toggle under Settings → Automated Detection. It requires system “Always” location access on iOS (or the equivalent background permission on Android). You can disable passive tracking, trip detection, or experience suggestions independently without deleting your account.

Is my data private?

You control trip visibility and per-memory audience. Health and spend details on shared trips are opt-in. Read the Privacy Policy for retention, third-party services (maps, planning providers, analytics), and how to export or delete your data.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → Profile Settings → Delete account. You can also email privacy@tripski.app. Deletion removes your profile, trips, memories, and uploaded media within 30 days as described in the Privacy Policy.
